Quick second labour

Quick second labour

Lead up

I had my stitch removed at 37 weeks on the 3rd February. I was told I was 2cm then and could Labour soon. Over the next few days I had on off pains and lost alot of mucus, I felt it was imminent but everything kept stopping. Using my breathing techniques to get me through, felt great.
I had an appointment at 38 weeks 6 days with consultant and had a sweep, again he said I was 3cm and expected me to go I to labour that day. I felt slightly crampy but that’s all and nothing progressed. Got to 39 weeks 3 days and spent the day feeling completely normal spending time with Daisy and getting a few things from shops. That night I woke at 1:30am and felt a little uncomfortable so got up and went to loo and got back in bed. I was a bit crampy but no pattern at all so didn’t think they were contractions, again just breathing through it.
Got up about 45 mins later as was still uncomfortable so went downstairs and sat on my birth Ball, soon realised that they were getting very strong. Alex came downstairs and I rang my mum to come and stay with Daisy. Rang the hospital and they said I could stay at home and take paracetamol but I said think I’d rather get checked even if sent home again.

Arrival at South Lakes Birth Centre

We got to hospital at 3:45am and went in alone to be examined. I had to take lift as felt baby was coming out. Got taken to room and put on monitor and obs done. I was in so much pain and midwife struggling to examine me as I couldn’t stay still. She finally managed and I was 8cm and baby was pushing against her hand. She shouted that baby was coming and to get Alex in and a delivery kit ready, after about 3 pushes baby Flo was born at 4:21am. I had a little gas and air but was mostly used after for a few stitches.
Good job I didn’t go with the paracetamol as it wouldn’t of made it into my system by the time she was born. My birth plan went out of the window as everything happened so quick! No time for birth pool unfortunately. But the labour went very well and Flo crawled across to feed straight away which was amazing. Unfortunately feeding hasn’t worked out again but we managed some breast for a week. I used the breathing techniques and felt in control even though it was so rapid.
Flo is doing great and has fit in perfectly.
Thanks for your classes they definitely helped prepare me
