Surrogate pregnancy- Magical c-section for breech presentation

I’m writing this following the cesarean birth of my first surrogate baby. Ideally, I’d have loved to deliver her naturally – I had this lovely image of a calm water birth, at night, just focusing on gently breathing her into the world. Well, babies have other ideas sometimes!

Despite the clinical experience of the theatre, it was still magical, we heard her tiny cry’s & then she was here, straight to her mum, just as we’d planned…. Only not how we’d planned at all. It just worked – she was born & she was happy, that’s all that matters.

I closed my eyes during the closing of my wound, I did my breathing techniques & tried to remember the song that was playing when she was born. Unfortunately, diamorphine has a bit of a habit of making you a bit forgetful, so it was just a lovely haze of knowing I’d done it & knowing they were getting their first moments as a brand new family of three together.
